Different types of air weapons - Air rifles

There are many different types of air rifles. In this guide we go through the differences between air/pcp, electric, pump, spring, nitro piston/vortex and Co2 powered air rifles.

Electric

Experience a new dimension in the sport with our innovative electric air rifles! Our collection of tactical air rifles gives you unparalleled power powered by electricity, and you can say goodbye to the effort of cocking the break barrel or the hassle of filling PCP tanks. With easy charging of the lipo battery at home, you are ready to shoot. These air rifles are designed for fun plinking. See all our electric air rifles here.

Air/PCP

Air / PCP-powered air rifles are air weapons that use compressed air as propulsion. These weapons are usually very powerful and precise. Most PCP airguns have magazine capacity. PCP weapons are for those who want high magazine capacity, maximum precision and well-balanced power. As a rule, you can expect between 40 and 140 shots per filling, this varies between models. The air pressure must be pumped up either by using suitable hand pumps or compressors. Such devices  can be found here: PCP Pumps/Compressors  See all air/PCP powered air rifles here.

Pump gun

Pump guns use an integrated pump mechanism. These weapons are accurate and durable. They are inexpensive to operate and very easy to use. You therefore pump up the weapon with a charging arm that sits on the weapon. As a rule, 3-5 pumps are enough. Then you only need bullets as accessories to be able to shoot. See all pump guns here.

Spring driven

Spring operated air guns are the good old classics where you crack down the barrel (in some cases a charging arm), put in a bullet, crack the barrel back up and you are ready to fire. Affordable, durable and very cheap to run. See all our spring-loaded air rifles here.

Nitro Piston / Vortex

What is nitro piston? These air weapons are the same principle as normal spring-powered ones. You break down the barrel, put in a bullet and crack the barrel back up. What distinguishes these from spring-driven ones is that they use a gas piston instead of springs. This makes them easier to break, stronger, quieter and more durable. When you break down the barrel, the gas in the cylinder is compressed, when you press the trigger, the gas returns to its original shape and this creates great power. The cylinder is sealed and there is no need to top up with gas. See all our Nitro Piston / Vortex air rifles here.

Co2 powered

Co2 powered airguns use liquid Co2 gas to propel the bullet forward. In this category you will find everything from semi-automatic to bolt action and full-auto weapons. Co2 powered air forces use either 12g Co2 cartridge  or 88g Co2 cartridge . Co2 weapons require more maintenance than the usual shotguns, we recommend silicone oil to lubricate as Co2 weapons use silicone gaskets to keep the weapon tight. Lubricate the weapon regularly and, if necessary, use cleaning cartridges that you can find here!  Remember not to leave the Co2 cartridge for a long time, as the pressure in the cartridge increases and can damage the weapon. See all our Co2 powered air rifles here.
