Top 10 myths about airsoft

The most common airsoft myths and the truth behind them

Airsoft is an exciting sport that is constantly growing in popularity, but as with many hobbies, there are some common myths that can cause misunderstandings. Here are some of the most common myths about airsoft, and the truth behind them.

Myth 1: Airsoft is dangerous
The truth is that airsoft can be completely safe as long as basic safety rules are followed. With the right protective equipment, such as goggles and face masks, the risk of injury is minimized. Check out Valken MI-7 thermal mask from Game-On for optimal protection during games.

Myth 2: Airsoft is expensive
Although there are advanced weapons and equipment that cost a lot, you can start with a reasonable budget and upgrade as you go. A great starter weapon is Specna Arms  F21 Flex, which gives you good performance without emptying your wallet.

Myth 3: Airsoft is only for adults
Airsoft is a sport for everyone over 18 in Norway, but there are junior versions of the game for younger players with easier rules and less powerful weapons. For those who want to take the sport more seriously, Game-On offers products such as Specna Arms - E11 Edge Light Ops, perfect for beginners and advanced players.

Myth 4: Airsoft is like paintball, only with plastic bullets
Although both sports involve shooting, airsoft is more focused on realism and tactics. With exact replicas of real weapons, such as ASG CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1 Carbine, airsoft gives a completely different experience to paintball.

Myth 5: Airsoft bullets harm the environment
This myth is becoming less and less relevant, thanks to the many environmentally friendly alternatives available today. Game-On offers, for example GO! BIO balls, which are 100% degradable and therefore do not harm nature. All our GO! Bio-balls with a weight between 0.20g to 0.36g have  EN13432 certification.

Myth 6: You must have experience with firearms to play airsoft
Airsoft is a sport for everyone, regardless of experience. You do not need to be a firearms expert to participate. The replicas may be realistic, but they do not require the same skill as real firearms.  Pistol is replicated as Umarex Glock 17 Gen4 are very realistic, while being user-friendly and suitable for players of all levels.

Myth 7: Airsoft is only for boys
Airsoft is a sport for all genders! Many women play airsoft on an equal footing with men, and the sport is more about tactics, cooperation and skills than physical strength.

Myth 8: Airsoft guns are illegal in Norway
Airsoft replicas are completely legal in Norway, as long as you follow the legislation that applies to weapon replicas. To own and use airsoft weapons, you must be over 18 years of age. Game-On has a large selection of legal airsoft guns, such as the popular Beretta M9A3 FM INOX which provides a realistic gaming experience without breaking any rules.

Myth 9: Airsoft games are chaotic and disorganized
This is often far from the truth! Airsoft games usually are  carefully planned and can vary from small battles to large military simulations with complex rules and structures. We recommend taking a look NASF (Norwegian Airsoft Association) their websites, they have rules that ensure safe and well-organized games.

Myth 10: You need a big team to play airsoft
Although team play is a big part of airsoft, you can also play one-on-one or in small groups. So you need  not necessarily a big team to have fun.

By dispelling these myths, we hope that even more people will be inspired to try airsoft. Regardless of the myths, airsoft is an inclusive and exciting sport, and at Game-On you will find everything you need to get started, regardless of level!
