Safe and legal storage (FG-approved)
Air guns with a caliber over 4.5 mm require a permit and registration – meaning you must obtain permission from the police to acquire them, and your safe must be FG-approved from the first item. This has been in effect since the Weapons Act came into force in 2021. What changed on 9.February 2026 is when the application and registration process itself became digital: a new firearms register and digital firearms card with a QR code replace the old paper-based system. The requirement for secure storage remains unchanged – it is the administration that has been modernized.
