HB Calls Mallard, traditional boxwood duck call from Hélen Baud
HB Calls Mallard is a solid boxwood duck call from the French family business Hélen Baud, designed to imitate the mallard’s distinctive quacking. The call is used to lure ducks within shooting range.
Worth noting: Hélen Baud traces its roots back to 1868 in Carpentras and is now France’s only duck-call manufacturer operating on this scale, still rooted in traditional craftsmanship. The sound is created by placing your hand around the call and adjusting the opening while blowing—the position of your hand determines how broken-up and lifelike the quack sounds.
Boxwood is a traditional, dense wood that provides a stable tone and a good grip. The call is lightweight and compact, and like other duck calls, it takes a little practice to sound lifelike.
