Helikon-Tex OTS Ultra Shorts – AeroTech – Black
Looking for an ultralight, breathable, no-compromise summer short that hides its tactical capabilities beneath a refined exterior? The Helikon-Tex OTS (Outdoor Tactical Shorts) in the innovative AeroTech fabric is tailored for those who demand maximum freedom of movement, extreme durability, and unmatched comfort on the hottest days.
Store tip: The AeroTech version is Helikon-Tex's lightest shorts construction ever. Compared to the heavier cotton-blend ripstop models, this version dries extremely quickly and offers excellent ventilation, making it superior for high-activity use and prepping in scorching summer heat.
Advanced AeroTech fabric with hydrophobic protection
The Helikon-Tex OTS Ultra Shorts stand out by using a high-tech, lightweight, and durable AeroTech fabric. The material is treated with a protective hydrophobic coating on the outside. This surface treatment significantly increases the shorts’ resistance to water, stains, and dirt. Moisture rolls off instead of soaking into the fibers, which means the shorts stay dry longer, are extremely easy to brush clean, and retain their technical properties through intensive, long-term use.
The ergonomic cut is based on the body’s natural movement patterns. The shorts don’t restrict your stride and remain incredibly comfortable, even during hours of marching, climbing, or shooting at the range. Despite their sleek and discreet urban appearance, our experts have ensured that the shorts offer enormous carrying capacity, keeping your essential gear securely positioned close to your body’s centerline.
Don’t forget essential accessories!
To get the most out of the ergonomics and features of your new Helikon-Tex shorts, we recommend the following accessories:
- Tactical belt: The wide belt loops are compatible with belts up to 50 mm wide. A stiff belt (f.eks. with a Cobra buckle) ensures the shorts won’t sag when the pockets are filled.
- Folding knife or multitool: The front pockets have reinforced edges specifically designed to prevent the clip of a knife or flashlight from tearing the fabric during everyday use.
- Technical washing: To preserve the hydrophobic (water-repellent) coating for as long as possible, the shorts should be washed at or below 30°C. Avoid using a tumble dryer and never use traditional fabric softener.
Smart pocket solutions and unique details
The shorts feature a total of 10 functional, strategically placed pockets for optimal organization of your EDC (Everyday Carry) gear. The thigh pockets are secured with sturdy, genuine YKK® zippers that keep larger items safely stored. On the side, you’ll find a dedicated accessory pocket tailored for smartphones or extra rifle and airsoft magazines. The back pockets consist of two classic wide pockets, each concealing two narrower inner slip pockets for valuables or smaller multitools you want to keep within immediate reach.
Instead of a traditional button at the waistband that can chafe under a backpack, OTS uses a sturdy hook-and-loop flap at the front. This lets you fine-tune the waist by up to 6 cm in everyday use. In addition, the back of the waistband features an elastic band that ensures a dynamic, perfectly tailored fit whether you’re sitting, bending down, or running.
