The most used Sami knife, a handy all-purpose tool on the go, for chopping firewood, butchering, gutting, eating utensils, etc. Large enough for rough work, small enough for finer use and to hang on your belt. Blade made of carbon steel.
Genuine Sami knife produced by Knivsmed Strømeng in Norway.
The ancestors of the Strømeng family brought blacksmithing to Karasjok in the 18th century. Since then, the family has passed down the craft traditions from generation to generation. Today, Knivsmed Strømeng is one of the few companies that produces knives for today's Sami.
Large universal knife, an alternative to an axe and saw on the go. Carbon steel blade, birch handle boiled in linseed oil.
Maintenance of the Sami knife
The Sami knife from knifemaker Strømeng can be used for generations. To fully enjoy the knife for many years, we recommend that you follow some simple advice:
- When removing the knife from the sheath, pinch the sheath at the top of the flat side. This will prevent the sheath from being cut open.
- The Sami knife is normally made of carbon steel. Therefore, never wash the knife in a dishwasher.
- If the knife has become wet or damp after use, dry the blade thoroughly before putting the knife back in the sheath. This will prevent rust. Oil the blade before storing it for a long time.
- Our trademark - the reindeer head, is a guarantee of the knife's quality. Brass clip with "flag" on the sheath. Watch out for imitations.
