H&N has come up with a smart solution to the problem: copper-plated lead balls that flatten when they hit something hard, significantly reducing the risk of ricochets.
The lead in the center of the ball ensures that it is soft enough to deform upon impact, while the smooth copper surface ensures that the ball is hard enough not to be damaged when loaded into a spring-powered magazine.
These balls pose considerably less ricochet risk than standard steel balls. With less ricochet, shooting is safer, while the balls also litter a smaller area than they would if they bounced around uncontrollably.
